We host monthly clean ups in Tel Aviv, Haifa and (soon) Jerusalem to help prevent as much litter as possible from getting to our waterway. Check our events tab for a cleanup near you!
Raise Awareness
Plastic pollution is dangerous for our planet and its inhabitants - people included. Through our social media pages, public campaigns and educational events we bring plastic pollution ideas and solutions to the public!
Promote Alternatives
Finding plastic-free alternatives can be difficult in Israel, so we work with local businesses and organizations to find and promote sustainable, environmentally-friendly, plastic free solutions.
About Plastic Free Israel
Plastic Free Israel is a grassroots movement that was started by one person who believes that everyone has the ability to help the environment in one way or another.
Plastic pollution is infiltrating our planet at an alarming rate. We’ve produced more plastic in the last ten years than we did in the entire century prior. We’ve created enough waste to fill four Mount Everests. We’re throwing the equivalent of one garbage truck full of trash being dumped into our oceans every minute - a rate that is predicted to double by 2050, if not sooner.
We will have oceans filled with more plastic than fish. Enough is enough.
We say: don’t despair. While the plastic pollution problem needs to be tackled from multiple angles, everyone can be a part of the solution. It comes down to two simple things:
1. Reducing our waste by saying no to the biggest single-use plastic polluters out there: cups, straws, bottles, lids, bags, plates, and silverware.
2. Picking up trash. It doesn’t have to have been your trash and you don’t have to spend all day doing it - picking up a few pieces here or there is one step towards making a difference. We are all role models for the people around us!
Plastic Free Israel aims to educate, motivate and inspire individuals to be role models for the planet. We also want to help businesses make more sustainable choices and reduce their plastic - and other waste - as much as possible.
